Gerolsteiner expands its presence in Asia through a new partnership
Gerolstein/Cologne, October 8, 2011. Gerolsteiner Brunnen GmbH & Co. KG has expanded its presence in Asia further through its partnership with Siam Winery, one of Asia’s largest wine producers. Since March 2011, Gerolsteiner sparkling and non-sparkling mineral water has been on sale in Thailand in the catering industry and hotels, as well as selected supermarkets.
“The cooperation between the largest winery in southeast Asia and one of the world’s best mineral waters creates the basis for long-term, intelligent collaboration between both partners,” as Axel Dahm, CEO of Gerolsteiner Brunnen GmbH & Co. KG, explained. For years, Gerolsteiner has worked together with wine experts and sommeliers in the field of harmony between mineral water and wine. In addition to the level of carbonation, the water’s mineral content plays an important role in choosing the right mineral water for a wine. Thanks to its high, yet well-balanced mineral content, Gerolsteiner is an ideal complement for wine.
The Gerolsteiner range in Thailand includes Gerolsteiner sparkling and still water in the 0.5 litre PET bottle, as well as in the 0.75 litre size and 0.25 litre gourmet bottle. Gerolsteiner carbonated water is also offered on the Thai market in a 1.0 litre glass bottle.
As the leading export brand among German mineral waters and the world’s No. 1 in carbonated mineral water, international business is becoming increasingly important. In the first seven months of 2011, Gerolsteiner Brunnen achieved double-figure sales growth in its international business.
“The Asian water market is dominated by table water, which makes up 71 percent of consumed water. That opens up exciting market prospects for a mineral water brand such as Gerolsteiner,” Axel Dahm explained.
